we wrześniu 1939 roku, była dywizja terytorialną I linii, w kwietniu 1940 roku przemianowana na Avon Force, w czerwcu 1940 roku powrócila do pierwotnej nazwy, jeszcze tego samego miesiaca przemianowana na Alabaster Force, ponownie powróciła do poprzedniej nazwy w kwietniu 1942 roku.

we wrześniu 1939 roku, była dywizja terytorialną I linii, w czerwcu 1940 roku rozbita we Francji (ocalała tylko 154th Brigade). Odtworzona w sierpniu 1940 roku w oparciu o 9th (Highland) Infantry Division.
